Crazy universe! Whatchoo doin? Flying to Portland and who should walk out of the flight gate coming INTO LA? A favorite PDX buddy/collaborator/director Jeff Harshman! Who I randomly had been talking to on the phone yesterday after being out of touch for months.

The Martyr

The Martyr turned out amazing. Really beautiful story and they made it look/sound just as beautiful. Got to work opposite to Sayed Badreya too. (of Iron Man, The Dictator & a million other things) Really great/fun actor.

Produced by: Nerris Nassiri

Another great review for Mine Eyes Hath Seen! From Glendale News-Press

http://www.glendalenewspress.com/entertainment/tn-gnp-stage-review-documenting-a-nation-at-war-with-itself-20150403,0,147339.story

“No dry history lesson here. Theatre Banshee is marking the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War with a deeply affecting reprise of Mine Eyes Hath Seen …its intimate, skillful presentation breaches the pages of history with notable immediacy.”

Rave review for Theatre Banshee’s – Mine Eyes Hath Seen from Stage Scene LA’s Steven Stanley…

http://www.stagescenela.com/2015/04/mine-eyes-hath-seen/

“Theatre Banshee commemorates the sesquicentennial of end of the bloodiest war in our nation’s history in their tenth-anniversary revival of Mine Eyes Hath Seen, Sean Branney and Leslie Baldwin’s theatrical montage of Civil War tales told “in their own words,” and powerfully so, under Branney’s imaginative direction…”

Help save LA’s 99 Seat theatre plan! Gettin’ paid better is vital, but this would just stomp it out.

What AEA/SAG-AFTRA members can do to help:

WHAT CAN AEA MEMBERS DO TO SAVE INTIMATE THEATRE IN LOS ANGELES?
1. Pay your dues before March 21st so that you are eligible to vote.
2. Make sure AEA has your correct contact information (snail mail and email) so you get your ballot.
3. Make sure you vote by April 16th at midnight.
4. Talk to your fellow AEA members and voice your opinion. Use social media and be on the lookout for Facebook pages and other social media outlets where you can invite your fellow union members to join in the fight.‪#‎ILove99‬ ‪#‎Pro99‬
5. Write AEA and tell them how you feel. Address your letter to Mary McColl mmccoll@actorsequity.org
Nick Wyman nwyman@actorsequity.org and include members of the AEA National Council (list attached)
6. Call Mary McColl and Nick Wyman at the AEA offices in NY and in LA to voice your opinion. Call them as often as you like.

SAG-AFTRA MEMBERS: AEA IS TRYING RIGHT NOW TO GET SAG-AFTRA TO AGREE TO RECIPROCITY FOR THIS HEINOUS AGREEMENT. DON’T LET THEM DO THIS! WRITE SAG-AFTRA NOW AND TELL THEM HOW YOU FEEL. Send it to Ken Howard and the SAG-AFTRA National Board.

Just got cast in: Theatre Banshee’s Production – “Mine Eyes Hath Seen”

Can’t wait to get started! The audition sides were so fascinating.

Via Banshee: This production explores the Civil War through the first person writings of those who lived through it. Built from letters, diaries and journals and infused with songs and live music, Mine Eyes brings to life the varied perspectives and harrowing experiences of America’s most important historical event.

I’d just like to note…

…that my last rant was completely justified because… JK Simmons won the SAG Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role!!
And had a beautiful, intelligent and funny acceptance speech to boot:
